ALAN CHADWICK
After an outstanding high school career at Decatur High, Alan Chadwick
attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. He later
transferred to East Tennessee State University and as a senior led the
Ohio Valley Conference in total offense and passing yardage. After
graduation in 1974, he was an 8th Round selection in the NFL Draft by
the Chicago Bears.
In 1976, Coach Chadwick joined the Marist faculty as a
teacher and football coach and following 9 seasons as Offensive
Coordinator for the War Eagles, he was named Varsity Head Coach in 1985.
In 24 seasons leading the War Eagles, Coach Chadwick has compiled a
272-45 record that includes: 2 State Championships; 2 State Runner-ups;
and 15 Regional Championships. He has won numerous coaching awards,
including AAAA Coach–of-the-Year (2003), AAA Coach–of-the-Year (1989),
NFL High School Coach–of-the-Year (1997), and 13 selections as Region
Coach–of-the-Year.
While the focus of his coaching career has been football,
Alan Chadwick coached baseball early in his career at Marist, serving
as the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity and Assistant Coach of the
Varsity. Coach Chadwick began coaching girls’ softball when his
daughters began playing the sport. He joined the Flames staff in 2006,
serving as its Head Coach during the last five spring sessions.
SCOTT FARROW
Scott Farrow is the odd-man-out of the Flames’ staff, having given up
baseball when he was 12 for competitive swimming. He began coaching
baseball in 1999 and soon caught the coaching bug. He moved to softball
in 2005 and began reading and watching coaching videos so he could
understand intricacies of the game. He has served as the Flames’
administrative head coach during its entire five years and as its head
coach during its fall seasons. Scott is a partner at Troutman Sanders,
a law firm in Atlanta.
TOM MONEY
Tom Money grew up in Atlanta, playing his youth baseball at Buckhead
Baseball and then later NYO. While attending the Marist School, he
played baseball for four years, including two on the varsity. Tom was
the starting first baseman on Marist’s 1981 State Championship team.
After high school, he coached baseball for three summers at Camp
Moosilauke in New Hampshire. Tom joined the Flames staff in 2006. When
Tom isn’t coaching softball, he is the Vice President of Kauffman Tire.
JIMMY PACKER
Jimmy Packer spent his youth as the baseball equivalent of a gym rat.
He grew up in Gadsden, Alabama, playing baseball from tee ball up.
While attending Gadsden High School, he was the starting catcher on its
1979 State Championship team. His outstanding play led to a baseball
scholarship at Jacksonville State, where a career-ending shoulder
injury forced him to retire after one season. Jimmy began coaching
softball at Morgan Falls Park in 2002. He joined the Flames staff in
2006, spending much of his time as its pitching coach. Jimmy spends his
professional life as the Fuels Manager at Georgia Power’s Plant Bowen.
