Shootout at North Park Tournament - Game 4 - Championship Game
WOW!!!  Flames Win 17-16 In Extra-Inning Marathon To Take Shootout Tourney

North Park- Alpharetta, GA - October 23, 2005

Faced with a double-digit deficit in the 2nd inning the North Fulton Flames dug their heels in and refused to lose. On a day when good defense was lurking elsewhere, Pride miscues combined with the  Flames hustle and never-say-die attitude provided for a deadly concoction for the South Cherokee softball club.  The "E Train" made a "round trip excursion" on this Sunday as Erin Meyers, appearing for her 2nd time in as many games, put the dampers on a blazing Pride fire in the 2nd inning and only allowed two hits and three runs over the next seven innings of pitching perfection.

The Pride took a 16-15 lead going into the bottom of the 8th but Erin Meyers singled in the tying run with one out.  Lizzie Roberts blasted a double and almost won the game but  the Pride left fielder threw a dart to home and nailed a sliding Scoop Foulke for the 2nd out.  Two walks loaded the bases and a spent Pride pitcher walked in Chelsea Doernberg for the winning Flames run to end the two hour and 33 minute marathon!!

With the lead changing hands three times, the hits and heroes were plentiful for the Flames.   Lindsey Anderson (double, 2 singles and 4 RBI's),Lizzie Roberts (2 doubles), Erika Hoffner (3 singles and 2 RBI's) and a great glove game, Jennifer Yancey (2 singles), "G" Sherrod (single), Lizzie Roberts (big double in the 8th), Erin Meyers (single and big  RBI in the 8th), Olivia Doud (single and RBI), Jenna Blakesley (single), Megan Angstadt (2 singles), Meghan Whipple (RBI) and Lara Gartner (single and nice sac bunt to set the table for Anderson).

Lizzie "Long-Ball" And Meyers Mastery Sinks Alpharetta Fury

North Park- Alpharetta, GA - October 23, 2005

With Erin Meyers on her way to a no-hit shutout, Lizzie Roberts knew that one run could be the difference. Roberts stepped to the plate after Lara  Gartner singled to start off the 4th-inning and promptly spanked a 2-0 fastball over the left-center field fence to provide the Flames with all the runs they would need...or get!!  The "E Train" was masterful in pitching her gem and only allowed 3 base runners in the 2-0 Flames win while fanning eight.

The Flames had six hits on the day.  Chelsea Doernberg, "G" Sherrod, Jenna Blakeslee and Lindsey Anderson also provided hits for the offense.

Shootout at North Park Tournament - Game 2
Flames Win 10-1, Beat Alpharetta Attack

North Park- Alpharetta, GA - October 22, 2005

For the second time in as many games, the Flames jumped on the opposing pitching early and then cruised on to their 2nd tournament win.  A base-on-balls inspired six-run explosion in the 1st proved to be too much for the over-matched Attack team to overcome.  Meghan Whipple (2 hits on the day), Chelsea Doernberg and Melissa Kedzie all had RBI singles in the 1st.  The Flames added another four runs in the 4th when Kedzie doubled down the line at 3rd and Lindsey Anderson poked her 2nd triple of the tournament to score two.  Erica Hoffner and Jenna Blakeslee added singles also.

Cat-quick Gabriela Sherrod made an outstanding diving catch from her catcher's position and then doubled up a shocked Attack runner at first to highlight the defense.

Once again Whipple and Anderson shared the pitching chores limiting the Attack to 3 hits.

Flames Thump Orange Crush In "Shootout" Opener

North Park- Alpharetta, GA - October 21, 2005

A four-run 1st inning propelled the North Fulton Flames to a 9-4 victory in a lightning-interrupted  Friday night contest.  Lindsey Anderson delivered the big blow in the 1st with a rope line drive triple to left center and the thumping was on! Erika Hoffner chipped in with two hits and Meghan Whipple, Jenna Blakeslee, Brittany Van Frayen, Gabriela Sherrod and Megan Angstadt added hits also.

Angstadt., affectionately known as "Big Red", had two spectacular plays in right field and was the defensive star of the game.  Meghan Whipple threw three innings and Anderson came in to pitch the 4th and put the final shutdown on the Crush.
