Flames Take USFA Rumble
Tourney - USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 6
Flames Special Series -"BENCH
BANTER"...
Pitching: Scoop for 2-3/3 innings, Erin in relief for 1-1/3 scoreless innings.
Strikeouts were at a premium,
since both teams were hitting the balls, and forcing the fielders to
make plays.
Flames suffered a slight
defensive breakdown in the 3rd inning that allowed the Eagles to add to
their run total, creating a 4 - 1 lead.
Bottom of the 3rd, the Flames
started one of their patented come-backs with clutch hits, scoring 2
runs, and cutting the deficit to 1. The 5th inning brought a quick
disposal of the Eagle offense, leaving the Flames the bottom of the
inning to work their magic. With the game clock winding down,
Jennifer Yancey launched a double to deep center. Princess Krebs
followed with another double and RBI to knot the score. Scoop
Foulke then hit a screaming single to right center, plating Princess for
the winning margin.
USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 5 Flames Special Series -"BENCH BANTER"...
Pitching: Erin
for 5 score-less innings / Scoop 6th & Int'l. Tie-Breaker
inning.
Eagles a very talented,
scrappy bunch led by their diminutive catcher.
Hitting: dampened by solid
pitching on both sides
Defense: A strength by
both teams. For the Flames, Chelsea accounted for 2 outs by
nailing the lead runner; once at 2nd, and then at 3rd.
Highlight of the game:
1 out, Eagle runner at 3rd, ball hit to centerfield - Jennifer Yancey
catches for an out, throws a laser to catcher Allie Davis for a tag out
at home plate, double play, end of inning.
USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 4 Flames Special Series -"BENCH BANTER"...
Pitching: Scoop
started, went 2 innings, Cool Whip closed 1 inning
Hitting: Flames
offensive was in high gear.
Princess, Scoop, and Chelsea
all sent bombs that kissed off the outfield fence.
Game ended in slaughter rule
- 10 run lead after 3 innings.
USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 3 A classic pitchers duel played out for 7 innings late into the Covington, GA evening as the Flames hurling duo of Erin Meyers and Scoop Foulke went toe to toe with the pitching of the Worth Cobras. In the end the Flames two was better than the Cobras one! The Cobras, staying with their ace for all seven innings and 119 pitches, got blasted in the first inning of the tie-breaker by a 5-0 score. Meyers was absolutely golden for 5 innings giving up only a 5th inning single while fanning nine snakes. Erika Hoffner bailed her out of a minor pickle with a great sliding catch down the right field line in the 5th that would have went for extra bases. Foulke entered the game in the 6th and walked a batter after one out. A strikeout and two wild pitches later put the Cobras with two outs and a runner on third. A near heart break game-ending single down the right field line was foul by millimeters but then Foulke forced a subsequent ground out to end the inning. As part of the tiebreak
rule, Princess Krebs started at 2nd base for the Flames offense in the
7th. Foulke reached on a throwing error. After a
strikeout, Lindsey Anderson blasted a double to the gap in left center to
plate 2 runs. After a walk and a bloop slap single by Erika
Hoffner which scored one, Alli Johnson slammed a single to left to
score 2 more and the route was on. Foulke came in and slammed
the door on the Cobras in the bottom of the seventh. Jennifer Yancey
and Krebs had singles also in the game.
USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 2 The Flames scored in every inning but the 2nd and cruised to a 9-2 romp in their first elimination game round contest. Flames hitting phenom Scoop Foulke led the attack with a double and 2 singles. Princess Krebs (3 RBI) and Brittany Van Frayen each had a double and single. Chelsea Godwin and Erika Hoffner had 2 singles and Alli Johnson, Allie Davis and Lindsey Anderson all had singles. Meghan Whipple was the
Flames starter and blanked the Panthers over her 3 innings of
work. Foulke and Anderson each pitched an inning to limber up
their pitching arms.
USFA Rumble At The Lake
Tournament - Game 1 Once upon a time (last Sunday) the North Fulton Flames thumped the 12U Cobras by a 15-3 mark in a controlled practice session, but in the USFA Rumble opener it was a different story. Looking a little flat in this pool game, the Flames could only muster one run on an inside-the-park HR by Scoop Foulke in the first inning. Meghan Whipple, Foulke and
Erin Meyers shared the pitching chores and gave up four runs on four hits.
