Flames Go Trophy-less In Covington Dugout Classic

An ugly fickle finger of fate was wagged at the North Fulton girls in Covington over the weekend.    Outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 43-2 and out hitting them 39-4, the Flames couldn't garner a sliver of medal for the day.  The single elimination format spelled doom in their only loss of day in a 1-0 heartbreaker.

Once again the Flames pitching staff proved to be too formidable in this 13-1 rout.  Megan Light threw two innings of perfect ball and fanned four.  Meghan Whipple did the mop-up work to take the Flames to their 2nd pool game victory.   Anderson, Scoop Foulke  and Light (single and double) were the top stick-men for the day with 2 hits each.    Whipple, Jennifer Yancey, Britt Van Frayen and Allie Johnson had hits on the day also.

With Meghan Whipple setting the tone with a 4-pitch first inning, the Flames pitching duo of Cool-Whip and Lindsey Anderson proved to be too overpowering in a lopsided 13-0 victory for the North Fulton Flames.   The "whipster" only threw 15 pitches in her two innings and then then turned it over to Lindsey Anderson who dipsey-doodle delivered her way to three strikeouts in one inning of work.

The Flames broke things open in the 2nd as they sent 13 girls to the plate and scored 9 runs.  Leading the hit parade was Scoop Foulke with 3 hits, Allie Davis and Lindsey Anderson each had 2 singles and  Meghan Whipple, Jennifer Yancey and Brittany Van Frayen with singles.
