Flames Take 3rd in Freedom Rings Tournament
- Game #4 Playing an impeccable "small-ball"game, the Athens, GA-based Starzz put on a clinic of "get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in" and handed the Flames a 7-2 loss. The Starzz struck early with a 3-run first inning and then played errorless ball to keep the Flames from getting any freebie runs and sent the North Fulton girls home with a 3rd place finish. The Flames had five hits in the contest including singles from Erika Hoffner, Liz Schneider, Lizzie Roberts, Kellie Wooden and Megan Light. Light started for the
Flames and went 3 innings and gave up five hits. Kellie Wooden came
on in the 4th and allowed two runs on one hit.
Freedom Rings Tournament - Game #3 The Georgia Pressure staked themselves to a 4-1 first inning lead and then proceeded to keep the Flames in their rear-view mirror as they cruised to an 7-3 win. Suffering the pangs of a 5+ hour layoff, the Flames just couldn't get the engines started as they negated their 6 hits with 6 fielding miscues. Sam Metzler doubled in a run for the Flames and Erik Hoffner, Andrea Cole, Brittany Van Frayen, Jennifer Yancey and Kellie Wooden had singles. Cole went the distance
for the Flames.
