Pitching, Defense Sink Orange Crush
In Championship Finale 3-1
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
In a well
planned pre-game tactical move, the Flames coaching staff opted to throw
their entire stable of Flames pitching at the Orange Crush in the
championship game and it paid off. The corps of Scoop Foulke, Megan
Light, Meghan Whipple and Andrea Cole responded with a combined 2-hit
1-run 5 inning gem Saturday night as the clock struck near midnight.
With the switching of pitchers, the Flames made it harder than a 2-day old
bowl of oatmeal for the Crush to get a bead on any one
pitcher. Clinging to a precarious 3-0 lead going into the 4th,
the Crush made some noise with two hits and one run and had runners
on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Right fielder Erika Hoffner
wasn't buying into any of THAT tension as she ran down a sinking line
drive and bounced a one hopper to catcher Allie Davis to complete a
catch'em, throw'em out double play to end the inning.
Kept off guard
all night by the the Crush's crafty, curve-balling lefty, the Flames
made the most out of their only two hits for the game - both 1st inning
singles by Davis and Light.

"Going To The Ship" -
Flames Beat Crush Again
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
The Flames
used a big 2nd inning to head off the Crush for the 2nd time on
Saturday. Following up a 3-run first, the Flames put 5 runs on the
board in the 2nd that combined some good hitting and some whacky
Crush fielding. The Flames spread out eight hits by eight
different players. Allie Davis (2B), Liz Schneider ((1B -
2RBI), Megan Light, Jennifer Yancey and Andrea Cole (each with a
single and RBI) and Erika Hoffner and Maddie Higginbotham had singles.
Meghan Whipple pitched into
the 4th and gave way to Andrea Cole who finished up.

Flames Head To Winner Bracket
Final - Win 4-1
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
Pitchers Andrea
Cole and Scoop Foulke crafted their way to a one-run NO hitter against a
well-dressed and well outfitted Home America team. The Flames gave
the pitching duo all they would need in the 1st inning when they slid
across 3 runs on a Megan Light RBI double and a booming Liz Schneider RBI
triple. Jennifer Yancey and Erik Hoffner added singles to the
cause.

Game 1
Fury Fall to Flames
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
With the white-hot bats of Allie Davis and Liz Schneider leading the
way, the Flames pounced early on the Fury and bested the Alpharetta team
by a 7-3 score. Davis led off with a triple followed by a Scoop
Foulke single(RBI). Megan Light singled and then Schneider blasted a
double to score one more. Lara Gartner singled (RBI) and when the
smoke cleared the Flames had scored 4. Nothing cooled down in the
2nd as Andrea Cole tripled, Davis tripled again and Maddie Higginbotham
added an RBI single. Jennifer Yancey and Foulke added late inning
singles.
Scoop Foulke and Megan Light
shared the pitching duties with each going 2 innings and each giving up
two hits.

Late Tsunami Score Ties Flames 5-5
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
After a couple of lead changes the Flames had to settle for a tie as
the Tsunami scored a top of the 5th run and the Flames couldn't push their
own runner in from 2nd in the bottom of the 5th with one out.
The Flames found themselves staring at at 4-0 deficit but battled back to
take a 4th inning 5-4 lead. Leading the hit parade was Meghan
Whipple with a triple and a single, Lara Gartner with two singles,
Allie Davis with a double, and Brittany Van Frayen, Erika Hoffner and Liz
Schneider (RBI) with singles.
Megan Light started and Cool
Whip came on in relief. Scoop Foulke finished up.

Flames Open 2007 With Orange
Crushing
Central Park, Cumming GA --
February 24,2007
The Flames didn't
waste much time christening their 2007 season as Allie Davis jumped on the
2nd pitch of the game and slashed a single to center field. Scoop
Foulke followed up with an RBI double and the day of fun in Cumming had
begun!! Meghan Whipple sliced a screamer down the right field line for a
4th inning inside-the-park homer and Liz Schneider doubled for the
other extra base hits. Maddie Higginbotham and Brittany Van Frayen
had RBI's.
Andrea Cole made her debut
performance in a Flames uniform and looked sharp in her 3-innings of
work. Megan Light did the relief work.
