Memorial Classic Tournament - Championship Game
Flames Keep Lady Knight's in Check-Take Championship in Overtime Nail Biter 1-0

Central Park, Cumming, GA - May 27, 2006
Article By Flames Cub Reporter Bull Foulke

Leaning heavily upon the foundation of how the Flames team was constructed, the defense was rock solid in handling all 13 balls put in play for outs. A special highlight included a 1-3-5 double play turned by Megbug to Lindsey to Chelsea. The pitching duo of Megbug and Scoop combined to limit the Knights to one hit, while rewarding 8 strikeouts. Resulting in an International Tie-Breaker to determine a winner, the Flames began the inning with Megbug on second. A Brittany sacrifice bunt, moved the runner to third while bringing Lindsey Anderson to the plate. Facing a 0-2 count, Lindsey fouled off 2 more balls before sending a bomber to left field for the game winning RBI.

Memorial Classic Tournament - Game 4
Lawrenceville Falls - Flames Vault Into Finals

Central Park, Cumming, GA - May 27, 2006

Some timely hits and some left field bombs were on the menu for the NFF gang as they served up a 2-0 whitewash of the Lady Knights.   Scoreless through four, an Allie Davis single plated Lindsey Anderson for the 1st run in the 5th .   For an insurance run in the 6th, Chelsea Godwin doubled off the top of the left field fence and then was knocked in by Princess Krebs.  Godwin (another deep double to left), Krebs with a 1st inning single and Anderson's 5th inning single rounded out the Flames hitting.

The Flames pitching, as it tends to do as they get deeper into the tournaments, got stingy with giving up runs.   Scoop Foulke went 4, giving up no runs on two hits.  Megan Light no-hit the Lady Knights over the last two innings.

Flames Tame Peachtree Ridge Lions in First Inning

Central Park, Cumming, GA - May 27, 2006
Article By Flames Cub Reporter Bull Foulke

Amidst rumors of advice from Siegfried & Roy, the Flames send 12 to the plate in the first inning, resulting in a 7-0 lead. Starting the game being the home team, some of the parents were a little concerned with the "always be visitor" slogan. As always, the Flames proved them wrong and put up a fascinating 7 runs in the first. Singles from Princess Krebs, Lara Gartner, and a Megbug blast to right field scoring 2 was just the start of the inning. Several of coaches thought they were seeing double with 4 doubles in the 1st from Erika Hoffner, Erin Myers, Jennifer Yancey, and Allie Davis. With the help from Lindsey's fence crashing catches, Erin threw a complete game, highlighted with a total of 10 strikeouts.

Flames Light Up Rockets in a 4-0 No Hitter

Central Park, Cumming, GA - May 27, 2006
Article By Flames Cub Reporter Bull Foulke

With a still empty bank account, the North Georgia Rockets are sent to the loser's bracket.  The pitching staff of Scoop and Erin combined for a total of 8 strikeouts, 1 walk, and NO hits. Warning track catches from Jennifer Yancey proved nothing can get past this vacuum cleaner defense. Hits from Scoop Foulke, Allie Davis, Jennifer Yancey, Megbug, Brittany Van Frayen, and a triple by Lara Gartner, the Flames left their opponent in a pile of ashes.

Memorial Classic Tournament - Game 1
Collins Hill Smacks Flames In Cumming Opener

Central Park, Cumming, GA - May 27, 2006

With an opening tournament win becoming as tough as a Waffle House T-bone, the Flames were boinked by a good 12U Collins Hill Eagles team in game one of the Cumming Memorial Day Classic Tournament.   The Eagles, led by their diminutive catcher, used a 3-run 3rd inning to topple the Flames 4-1.   The Flames had some chances but couldn't get the big hit at the right time.   Jennifer Yancey, Lindsey Anderson, Scoop Foulke and Megan Light had singles for the Flames.

Foulke pitched two innings and surrendered one run on 3 hits and had 5 strikeouts.  Light pitched the 3rd and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits while fanning 3.   Anderson blanked the Eagles in the 4th.
