Cumming Tournament - Game 7
Cherokee Too Much For Shock In Cumming Finals

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 18, 2005

A spent North Fulton Shock team offered up a valiant effort in the finals of the Cumming tournament but couldn’t withstand a 17 hit and 9 run assault by the talented Cherokee Pride team.  With fatigue most likely a factor,  the Shock struggled on defense and committed  9 miscues in the contest.

Fleet-footed leadoff hitter Erika Hoffner banged out 3 singles, Lindsey Anderson had two hits and Alli Johnson, Elizabeth Stokes, Elizabeth Lowe,Olivia Doud and Meghan Whipple all had a hit.  Doud turned in some gems from her right field position and threw out a Pride runner at 1st base.

Anderson, Stokes and Whipple all saw some time on the hill.

Cumming Tournament - Game 6
Overtime Rollercoaster Thriller Won By Shock In 9th Inning

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 18, 2005

Elizabeth Stokes did what she does best on Sunday afternoon...she hustled, played hard and found a way to win!  In a topsy turvy, thrill a minute semi-final contest that featured great plays (nice catch Jenna), crazy plays (Riley in foul territory?), contested plays (was the bunter in the batters box?) and some coaching showdowns, NO ONE was sitting down at the end of this one.  The likable "Stokes" , playing in her last tournament in a Shock uniform, found herself on third base with one out in the bottom of the ninth.   Hot hitting Meghan Whipple lifted a shallow fly ball to a strong armed Rocket right fielder who fired a perfect strike to home and appeared to have Stokes out easily.   Elizabeth pretzeled herself around the awaiting catcher on a Houdini-like slide swiping her left hand across a sliver of the plate and left a surprised catcher with  only  a handful of air to tag...SHOCK WIN,  SHOCK WIN!!

The whole Shock pitching staff saw action but Scoop Foulke  picked up the win on a yeoman's effort on the mound and was "lights out" over the last 5 innings in relief giving up no runs and pitching out of some tough situations.  Scoop also had 3 hits in the contest.  Brittany Van Frayen, Jenna Blakesly, Meghan Whipple, Lindsey Anderson, Riley Ganus and Allie Johnson delivered offensive blows also.

Cumming Tournament - Game 5
Cherokee Pride Blanks North Fulton Shock

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 18, 2005

In a classic fastpitch softball game played well by both teams, the Cherokee Pride edged the home team Shock to vault themselves into the winners bracket finals.  The Shock threatened in the 5th and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out but couldn't push anything across the plate.  Erika Hoffner, Alli Johnson and Elizabeth Stokes mustered the only Shock hits for the game.   Hoffner made a great stab in center.

Scoop Foulke and Meghan Whipple were strong on the hill.

Cumming Tournament - Game 4
Shock Drub Crush...Again

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 18, 2005

Alli Johnson started things off early in the 1st inning with a 2-bagger bomb off the left field fence and the Shock never looked back.  Using a 9 run inning twice in as many days against an improved Crush team, the North Fulton Shock cruised into their showdown with an undefeated Cherokee Pride team.   Johnson had 2 hits on the day and Erika Hoffner, Riley Ganus, Lindsey Anderson, Meghan Whipple, Scoop Foulke, Olivia Doud and Jenna Blakesly added hits.

Lindsey Anderson (1 hit and 0 runs) and Elizabeth Stokes (0 hits and 0 runs) shutdown the Crush bats.

Cumming Tournament - Game 3
Alpharetta Attack Mauled By Shock

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 17, 2005

The Alpharetta Attach were clobbered 14-2 by the Shock in a sun-baked, late afternoon game at Central Park.  The Shock put a 5-spot on the board in the 1st and never looked back.  13 hits were garnered by the North Fulton team in a 3-inning, time shortened contest.  Riley Ganus, Alli Johnson, Lindsey Anderson and Elizabeth Stokes all had 2 hits.  Jenna Blakesly, Brittany Van Frayen, Meghan Whipple, Elizabeth Lowe and Olivia Doud all chipped in with one hit.

Anderson (2 innings) and Van Frayen (2 innings) turned in good jobs on the mound in their debuts of the season.  Each gave up a run.  The defense was led by Anderson and Erika Hoffner.  Anderson threw a no-hopper strike from centerfield to nail an Attack runner at the plate.  Hoffner had a nice backhand linedrive stab at short.

Cumming Tournament - Game 2
Shock Nipped 2-1 In Extra Inning Heartbreaker

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 17, 2005

The Shock came within a whisker of going 2-0 in the Cumming tournament but the North Georgia Rockets pushed a tying run across in the top of the 6th and then another in the 7th to edge the North Fulton team.   Elizabeth Stokes turned in a mound gem as she went 6 innings and allowed only one run against a talented and athletic Rocket team.  Blending her 3 pitch repertoire, Stokes kept the Rockets guessing all afternoon.

The Shock played a fabulous field game but a 2-error 6th was costly.   Highlight of the game was when third baseman Alli Johnson executed a flawless fake to 1st on a slow grounder and then whirled and threw back to Brittany Van Frayen covering 3rd to catch a stunned Rocket.  Erika Hoffner had an eye-popper diving catch in center also.

Lindsey Anderson collected 2 hits.  Hoffner, Stokes, Johnson, Van Frayen (RBI) and Meghan Whipple added singles.

Cumming Tournament - Game 1
Shock Bomb Roswell Crush In Season Opener

Central Park- Cumming, GA - September 17, 2005

In their debut performance of the 2005 fall season, the North Fulton  Shock exploded for 9 runs in the 2nd inning to break things wide open early.  The Shock continued their dominance of the Crush from past seasons and collected 12 hits in this shortened 3 inning slugfest.  Alli Johnson led the hit parade with 2 hits (triple) and 2 RBI's.  Riley Ganus, Lindsey Anderson, Elizabeth Stokes, Elizabeth Lowe, Brittany Van Frayen and Meghan Whipple (2B) all had hits also.

Whipple (2 innings) and Stokes combined for the one-hit shutout as only 10 Crush batters got to dig in their cleats in the batters box.
