Flames Capture 4th In 18-U ISA Freezer Burn ISA 18-U Freezer Burn Tournament -
Game #4 The Flames started things in the 1st with an Erika Hoffner slap single and she moved around to score. Little did the Flames throng of fans know that that was to be the last hit and run of the night for the gals from Atlanta. The Flames dodged a big bullet in the 1st when, with bases loaded and one out, Liz Schneider scooped up a slow roller down the 3rd base line, threw to catcher Allie Davis at home for the force and then Davis finished it off with a strike to 1st baseman Megan Light to complete the 5-2-3 DP. Flames pitching, good all day, was
still up to the task as starter Scoop Foulke (3 innings/3 hits) and
Andrea Cole (2 innings/0 hits) stymied the Impact until the fateful
5th. ISA 18-U Freezer Burn Tournament -
Game #3 Liz Schneider came up big with a 2RBI
whistling missile double down the left field line and Andrea Cole shut
down the Riptides to propel the Flames to a 3-1 win. The Flames
could only muster one other hit in the game, a single by Laura Purvis, and
continued to rely on strong pitching and defense to combat their comatose
$250 bats. ISA 18-U Freezer Burn Tournament -
Game #2 The Albany Whippets introduced the
Flames to a good dose of 18-U softball pitching. Keeping the Flames
off balance the whole game, the D1 Coastal Carolina bound Whippets pitcher
only surrendered two "excuse me" hits. An 11 ft.
infield single by Andrea Cole and a check-swing single by Brittany Van
Frayen were it for the Flames. Scoop Foulke and Megan Light
split the 4 innings of pitching work with each giving up 2 hits. ISA 18-U Freezer Burn Tournament -
Game #1 The Flames strung 3 consecutive singles together in the bottom of the 4th - Erika Hoffner, Jennifer Yancey and Brittany Van Frayen (RBI) to tie things up and then Allie Davis delivered the lethal dagger with a RBI bomb to deep right for a double in ITB play. Scoop Foulke, in relief of Andrea Cole, came on to shut down the Riptides in their bottom of the extra inning to preserve the 1st win of 2008.
