Let 'em Play Blue! - Flames And Southern Burn Tied At 4-4

Heritage Park,  McDonough, GA - July 8, 2006

The Commerce, GA based Southern Burn team put 3 runs on the board in the top of the first but  the scrappy Flames girls team kept chipping away inning by inning and finally tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd on a Princess Krebs inside-the-park homer.   Scoop Foulke got things going in the 1st with an RBI single.  The Flames added two more in the 2nd when Brittany Van Frayen doubled and then scored on a Lizzie Roberts single.  Chelsea Godwin then singled in Roberts.

Meghan "Cool Whip" Whipple started for the Flames and was relieved by Scoop Foulke with two out in the 2nd.

Massacre In McDonough...Pretty Much

Heritage Park,  McDonough, GA - July 8, 2006

Pretty much every Flame scored.  Pretty much every Flame had a hit.  Pretty much every Flame stole a base and it was pretty much of an extremely overmatched Kennesaw Thunder team getting skunked by a 17-0 score after 2 1/2 innings.  The hit parade saw three hits by Allie Davis (inside-the-park homer), and two hits by Princess Krebs (inside-the-park homer) and Scoop Foulke.    Jennifer Yancey, Chelsea Godwin, Erin Meyers, Lizzie Roberts (inside-the-park homer), Olivia Doud and Megan Angstadt added hits also.

Meghan Whipple, Lindsey Anderson and Scoop each threw one inning of no-hit ball.

Meyers Close To Perfect in 1-0 Win Over Georgia Heat

Heritage Park,  McDonough, GA - July 8, 2006

When Erin Meyers gets in the groove, some team is going to spend a lot to time taking a quick walk to the batters box and quick walk back to the dugout.  On Saturday that team was the "quickly becoming familiar" Georgia Heat team from Warner Robbins.  Meyers only allowed a first inning walk and then retired 17 batters in a row while posting 10 strikeouts in an exciting six inning pitchers duel.

Going into the the sixth inning with a zip-zip score, Brittany Van Frayen singled to the hole in short for the Flames 2nd hit of the day.   Up stepped Lizzie Roberts who slammed a 1-1 game winning RBI double to deep right to give the Flames all the runs they would need behind the Meyers masterpiece.    A torrid hitting Princess Krebs had the only other Flames hit with a single in the first.

Flames Wallop McDonough Elite In Opener

Heritage Park,  McDonough, GA - July 8, 2006

The North Fulton Flames had a chip on their shoulder going into their opening game on Saturday morning.  The Elite had stymied the Flames several weeks ago by a 1-0 score and the Flames made sure it was payback time.  When the dust settled, the NFF gals shellacked the Elite by a mercy-rule margin of 14-2 after 3 innings of play.

Meghan Whipple one hit the Elite in her two innings of work and and Lindsey Anderson pulled relief duty by only allowing one hit also.

The Flames offensive assault was featured by a 9-run 2nd inning.  Hitting heroes were Princess Krebs (single, double and a Foster Brooks triple),  Jennifer Yancey (inside-the-park 3 run homer) , Megan Angstadt (two-bag- 2RBI rip)  , Scoop Foulke (double and 2RBI) and Lindsey Anderson, Erin Meyers and Lizzie Roberts with singles.

Third baseman Brittany Van Frayen turned in a sparkling defensive job having a hand in six of the nine Elite outs recorded and also turned in an unassisted double play.
