Flames Finish 3rd
Mountain Park Fall Fandango Tournament -
Game 5 Collins Hill combined big bats and good pitching to blast the Flames out of the Fandango Tournament by a 10-2 score. Starting pitcher Erin Meyers shut down the hot hitting club from Gwinnett County in the 1st but it was all down hill after that. The Flames, who were the only team to score on Collins Hill, pushed two runs across in the 5th. After a Jenna Blakeslee single and a walk, Scoop Foulke drilled a shot into right center to plate both. Erin Davis had the only other hit with a 1st inning single. Besides Meyers three
innings of work, Megan Light threw one inning and Foulke pitched the 4th
and 5th and 6th. In a scary moment in the 6th, Pitcher Scoop Foulke
took a screaming liner up the middle off the leg and went down in a
heap. After some anxious moments, she hobbled off with a
tear-stained face but also with that ubiquitous smile of hers.

Game 4 Falling behind 2-0 and then 4-2, the Flames kept bouncing back and finally buried a good Georgia Xtreme team by pushing 2 runs across in the bottom of the 4th. Princess Krebs, with her 2nd hit of the day, led off the 4th with a sharp single to left, which was followed by a single down the 3rd base line by Brittany Van Frayen. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Allie Davis executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to score Krebs. Van Frayen trotted home on the next play on an error for the leading run. Pitcher Megan Light then snuffed out the Xtreme bats in the 5th to preserve the win. Scoop Foulke had a big day at the plate with a double, single and 2 RBI's, Lizzie Roberts had 2 singles, Allie Johnson blasted a double to the left field fence and Lindsey Anderson added a single. There were glimpses of brilliance in the field as Chelsea Godwin threw a bullet from left field to Allie Davis at home (see sequence below) to nail an Xtreme'r by about 5 feet trying to score . Erika Hoffner had a great diving catch in center to end the 4th. Foulke started for the Flames and pitched 3 innings giving up 3 hits and fanning three. Light picked up the victory by throwing the final two innings of shutout ball.

Game 3 On a cold November night, the Flames
met the Grayson Riot. Both teams had gone 1-1 in play earlier in the
day. The games developed into a classic pitcher’s battle, with
Erin Myers striking out 8 batters in the first three innings. The
Riot scratched their way to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
The Flames responded in the bottom of the 5th inning, using small ball to
generate 2 runs and take a lead that they never relinquished. The
game was highlighted by a sparkling defensive play made in the top of the
7th inning. The Flames were clinging on to a 2 – 1 lead when a fly
ball was lofted into shallow center field. Princess Krebs and Lara
Schrantz both shifted into high gear in an attempt to catch it. Lara
Schrantz made a spectacular catch, holding on to the ball despite
colliding heavily with her shortstop, Krebs. The prognosis is good as Princess was able to play on Sunday but Schrantz was still suffering some neck stiffness and whiplash. Allie Davis and Lizzie Roberts had doubles and Scoop Foulke had a bunt single.

Game 2 Like a veteran prize fighter, the Flames kept throwing body punches in the middle rounds and then BOOM, they threw the haymaker in the top of the 6th. With wobbly legs, the Orange Crush went down and couldn't get off the canvas in the bottom of the 6th and looked up at the referee as he counted them out by a 6-5 KO. Aided by Flames defensive miscues, the Crush roared to a 5-0 lead after two innings but Scoop Foulke got things going with a 2-RBI double in the 3rd, which was followed by two-bag RBI blast over the left fielder's head by the diminutive Erika Hoffner and the game was on! After Allie Johnson and Lindsey Anderson singled in the 4th, Chelsea Doernberg plopped a seeing-eye single through the infield that plated two and the game was tied. Laura Schrantz delivered the big blow in the 6th with the eventual game winning RBI single after Scoop reached on an error. BIG hero in the field was Lara Gartner who made a fabulous inning ending right field catch in the 5th to save a run. Another game saver was a putout at home by catcher Allie Johnson after a carom off the backstop to stifle another Crush threat. Meghan Whipple, fresh off
the 4 hour disabled list, started for the Flames and settled down to blank
the Crush in the 3rd. Lindsey Anderson (one inning) and Megan Light
(two inning) shutout the Crush the rest of the way. Light struck out
the side in the decisive 6th.

Game 1 While Jack Frost was nipping at our noses he decided to take a little nip at the North Fulton Flames bats too on Saturday morning. With an 8:15 AM game time temperature hovering near the freezing mark, the Flames couldn't get the engines fired up and were shut out by the Collins Hill team by a 2-0 score. Facing a crafty Collins Hill pitcher with a several pitch repertoire, the Flames had their chances but couldn't deliver when it counted. With the bases loaded in the 4th and no outs the Flames went strikeout, force-out, fly-out to come up empty handed. The Flames were stellar in the field with Princess Krebs (several nice plays at short), Megan Light (leaping catch at 2B), Chelsea Godwin (nice catch in LF) and catcher Allie Johnson (throw out of stealing runner) leading the way. Scoop Foulke was the starting pitcher and gave up no runs with one strikeout and one walk. Megan Light pitched the 4th and 5th and had 3 K's and 4 walks. Laura Schrantz, Allie
Davis, Godwin, Chelsea Doernberg and Erika Hoffner had singles for the
offense.
