It had been a long day for Flames crew, but an even longer one for the Flames fans, as only 7 dedicated admirers remained.  Having played 6 games prior to the championship game, the Flames were beaten down with several injuries, but fought through and landed on top.  Now facing a well-rested Cobras team, the Flames were looking a little dreary.  As the night continued on, so did the runs for the Cobras.  With their tanks on empty, the Flames had to settle with a second place in their first tournament of the 2006-2007 season.

Light's Bomb Moves Flames To Finals With 2-0 Revenge Win Over Vipers

Now in the semi-final game, The Flames were playing the Vipers again, ready, and willing.  With a Megbug blast over the fence in the top of the 1st, slipping in 2 early runs was all the Flames needed to win the duel with the vipers.  With very precise pitching coming from the home-run queen herself, and relief pitching from Scoop, the Flames advance to the championship game against their arch-rivals; The Worth Cobras.

Hitting Leaders: Megan Light 2-run homer, Mary Q with a double and Erika had a single.

With the cold settling in, the Flames bats started to warm up.  In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Flames took a 4 run lead.  Lindsey Anderson and Scoop Foulke pitched 5 great innings only allowing a couple of runs to slip by early in the 4th.  Making it a closer game in the top of the 5th, The Flames had enough, and shut the door with 5 more runs to make the final score 9-3.

Lara Gartner (triple and single),Erika, Megan Light, (2 hits each), Lindsey (double) and Scoop, Mary Q and Elizabeth Schneider had singles.

Flames Topple Venom 8-3

As the Flames entered the loser’s bracket, they knew that 1 more loss would eliminate them from the tournament.  Determined not to let that happen, The Flames jumped on the Venom early in the bottom of the first, putting 4 runs up on the board.  Hits came from the entire flames team, and triples by Maddie and Lindsey help put the flames on top. With precise pitching from Megan Light, including 5 strikeouts and no errors, the flames team pulled together and tromped the Venom 8-3.

Flames Bounce Bandits Out Of Tourney

"Johnny on the spot" Megan Light showed up 2 minutes before game time, threw a couple of balls, swung a couple of times and then proceeded to buoy the Flames contingent to a 8-3 victory.  Light's 2-RBI double to the left center gap  in the first ignited the Flames bats AND demeanor as they banged out 9 hits in the contest.   Light and Brittany Van Frayen each had triples and multiple RBI's.   Mary Q had two singles and Erika Hoffner, Scoop Foulke, Lara Garnter and Allie Davis had singles.

Scoop Foulke and Megan Whipple corralled the Bandit bats with their 3 inning each pitching stints.

Vipers Clobber Flames In Elim Round Opener

An opportune Vipers club put their bats on the ball and forced the Flames to make plays...and unfortunately they didn't.   The end result was a run-rule shortened 8-0 whitewashing.   Mary Quattrocchi (2 singles) and Scoop Foulke (single) had hits for the Flames.

Flames  Rusty In 4-0 Win Over Bandits

In a game that meant nothing, the Flames looked to shake off some of the rust for some of the team members who haven't played in a few months.  They made the most out of their 3 hits and the 4 Bandits errors to post a victory in the first outing for the 2006/07 roster.  Erika Hoffner, Megan Whipple and Lara Garnter led the way offensively while Meghan Whipple and Lindsey Anderson did mound time on a chilly Winder morning.
