Scoop Sends Southern Sting Back To Rec. Ball - Flames Move On To Midnight Final

Hobgood Park, Woodstock, GA - May 13th, 2006
Article By Flames Cub Reporter Bull Foulke

Fingertip catches, more strikeouts ( Scoop (6) and Erin (3) ), blasts to the outfield, and coaches fighting, what more could you ask for?  An exciting, yet brutal 1st inning showed the many talents of the Flames and the Southern Sting's abilities, ranging from diving catches, warning track hits, and chinese change-ups. The 3 runs in the first were contributed by Princess Krebs, Brittany Van Frayen, Alli Johnson, and  2 RBI's from a MegBug Blast to deep center.  Another RBI in the second from Alli Johnson put the Flames on top for another 4-1 victory.

Flames Ride E-Train To Semi-Finals

With pitching assistance from Erin "The Lawnmower" Myers, the Flames sweep the West Cobb Attitude in a 5-0 win. A new personal best 11 strikeouts and a complete game, Erin held the West Cobb crew to only 3 hits. Despite several offensive batting follies against the West Cobb "BAD" Attitude, the Flames punished their opponent in the top of the 5th inning. With hits from Brittany Van Frayen, Lara Gartner, Chelsey Godwin, Alli Johnson, Lizzie Roberts, Megan Light, and back to back triples from Princess Krebs and Scoop Foulke, the Flames extend their tournament record to 2-1

Pitching/Defense Carry Flames To 4-0 Win

Hobgood Park, Woodstock, GA - May 13th, 2006

""Light to Lizzie" - 2nd Baseman Megan Light throws to Lizzie Roberts to complete a 1st inning double play.

Scoop Foulke and Erin Meyers pulled their familiar "one-two" act and limited the West Cobb Diamonds to one hit for this 1:40pm game.  The duo whiffed seven and walked none.  Only one Diamond reached 2nd base and that threat was thwarted when Megan Light caught a liner and doubled up a runner at 1st to end the inning.   Lizzie Roberts snagged a whizzing liner down the first base line in the 2nd to put a "L3" in the scorebooks rather than a "2B".

Foulke led the offense with two singles and an RBI.  Lara Gartner (double and RBI),  Jennifer Yancey (double), and Brittany Van Frayen (single and RBI) rounded out the rest of the Flames hit count.

Count on it...Death, Taxes And A Flames Opening Game Loss

Hobgood Park, Woodstock, GA - May 13th, 2006

The North Fulton Flames Fastpitch team continues to make a strong case of "if your are gonna get us...get us early"!  The NFF clan couldn't wipe the sleep out of their eyes early enough on Saturday morning and found themselves on the wrong side of a 6-3 score.   Some first inning flames-follies staked the Newnan team to a 3-0 lead and the NFF gals couldn't gun the engines loud enough or long enough to overcome.  Seen last in the the 1968 Women's Softball Championship in Toledo, Ohio, the Sting resurrected the old "Chinese Change-up" pitch to confound players, umps and coaches alike.

The Flames managed only one hit on the day, a single to left in  the 3rd by Alli Johnson.  Meghan Whipple and Megan Light provided the pitching with each surrendering 3 runs.
